Background the assistant always has in front of it when it answers,
separate from the case files. This is for the things that live in your head,
not in any document: who the parties are, how they're in conflict, and what
shorthand means. Use General for things that apply across everything,
or pick a specific matter to add context that's only about that case.

What to put here (with examples)
The parties and their roles — the people and organizations involved, and what part each one plays.
Example: "The Estate is our client and owns the works. The dealer who brokered the 2018 sale is on our side. The 7G Group is the buyer group that submitted the proof of funds. The gallery handled storage and logistics."
Who represents whom — which firm or lawyer is on each side.
Example: "Our side is represented by our firm. The 7G Group has its own outside counsel. The gallery is represented separately."
The conflicts — who is in dispute with whom, and over what.
Example: "The Estate and the 7G Group disagree over whether the $50M proof of funds was ever valid. 7G says they were ready to close; the Estate says the bank letter never checked out and the deal lapsed. Separately, the dealer and the gallery dispute who owes the 2018-2020 storage fees."
Background and your take — the story behind each matter and how you read it.
Example: "This began as a 2018 private sale of four paintings. The buyer produced a $50M proof of funds but it never cleared verification, so the sale stalled. My read is the POF was aspirational rather than real, and 7G was trying to tie up the works without committing funds."
What each matter is trying to achieve — the goal or outcome you're working toward.
Example: "On the main dispute, the goal is to confirm the 2018 deal lapsed so the Estate can re-sell the works free of 7G's claim. On the storage dispute, the goal is to avoid paying fees we don't owe."
Shorthand and code names — labels that show up in the paperwork and what they refer to.
Example: "'7G' = the 7G Group (the buyer). 'POF' = proof of funds, the bank letter showing a buyer can pay. 'the four' = the four paintings in the 2018 sale."
